EDO OR MEIJI PERIOD, 18TH OR 19TH CENTURY
Both ink and colour on paper and each a section of a handscroll painting, makimono, the first painted with a Chinese scholar and his horse standing on the shores of a tempestuous river, the man pointing at a writhing dragon emerging from dark clouds above; the other depicting six horses painted in various positions on a buff ground, their names inscribed above them, both in modern frames and glazed, 26cm x 79cm and 26cm x 97cm respectively.
