An early 18th century brass musical longcase movement, the thirty hour birdcage movement with turned urn finials and columns, with a verge escapement and striking on eight bells, with a cylindrical musical barrel, the arched dial engraved with a portrait of Peter 'The Great' of Russia with emblems of war, including: cannon, swords, cannon balls and banners, inscribed 'PETRO ALEXII FIL RUSSORUM MAGNO CESARI', with female mask cast gilt brass spandrels, the chapter ring with Roman and Arabic numerals and inscribed 'Samuel Smith, LONDON'. dial: 33.7 x 25.9cm.
