This kick wheel was brought to Cornwall by Shoji Hamada in 1956 as one of two examples installed for use at the Leach Pottery. Along with one other example, which still remains at the Leach Pottery museum, the wheels were used for potting with one of them photographed in 1963 being used by Shinsaku Hamada, watched by Shoji.
