Catalogue Note:
Ernest Newton was articled to Richard Norman Shaw in London from 1873-1876, leaving to set up an independent architectural practise in London in 1880. He was a founding member of the Art Workers Guild (in 1884) and also a regular exhibitor at the Royal Academy.
