A Morris & Co Hammersmith hand-knotted Black Tree rug designed by Henry Dearle, probably made at Wilton, decorated with Persian flower and foliage in colours on a black ground, unsigned, 181 x 127cm.

Provenance

Anna Ricardo (daughter of the architect Halsey Ricardo). The original design by Dearle was exhibited at the 1889 Arts and Crafts exhibition.
