A pottery model of a monkey by Donald Gilbert (1900-1961), modelled seated on rectangular plinth, covered in a matt blue and crystalline glaze impressed mark, paper label to base 24cm. high
Donald Gilbert, the son of the sculptor Walter Gilbert, studied at the Birmingham Central School of Art, the Royal College of Art and the Royal Academy. He also produced ceramic designs for Ashtead Pottery.
