£2,000 - £3,000

Attributed to Gavin Morton (1867-1954) for Alexander Morton & Co.

An Arts and Crafts Donegal rug, circa 1900

hand-knotted wool, with Mina Khani design, with large flowerheads and vines in pink and blue enclosed by mustard borders of geometric vines and flowers

210 x 126cm.

Provenance:

The carpet was part of the furnishings of Hill Close in Studland, Dorset - a notable residence designed by the architect C.F.A. Voysey in 1896. The rug can be seen in situ within the hallway of the property from a 1970s Savills prospectus, which identifies the rug as a fixture of the house at that time.
