British Art Pottery

Wednesday 25th November 2015. Starts at 10:30am

This year's Art Pottery auction included a fine selection of work from the late Victorians to contemporary potters of today. Highlighting a strong section of Martinware (nearly 100 lots) was a fine and unrecorded spoon-warmer by Robert Wallace-Martin in 1879, another highlight was a stoneware bird jar and sculpture by Robert Wallace Martin.  Also offered is a collection of over sixty five miniature gourd vases by Edwin and Walter Martin, which were inspired by the arts of the Orient.
The studio pottery section had works by Bernard Leach, Michael Cardew, Lucie Rie, Hans Coper and a group of works from the estate of R J Washington.
