'Le Championnat de la Mer' an Important bronze trophy cast from a model by Mastroianni, Monaco 1908, modelled with two boats racing past sea maidens bearing up the winner's laurels, on granite base signed in the bronze 74cm. wide Le Championnat de la Mer ran between 1908 and 1912 off the coast of Monaco. It saw boats powered by motor car engines that had been adapted for the rigours of high-speed water racing, vehicles that would be coined canots automobiles.
