A rare bronze sugar basin the design attributed to Dr Christopher Dresser, conical form cast in low relief with bands of geometric decoration, on three polished Crow's foot legs, each surmounted with a ball finial, unmarked 8 cm. high Literature Principles of Design, The Technical Educator page 104 the Crow's foot sugar basin is shown in line drawings one with simple bands the other more angular in form with bands of geometric decoration. Although neither are comparable in form they allude to Dresser's development of this form. Although unmarked the used of mixed metals is in keeping with his production at Benham & Froud. Comparison with other designs by Dr. Christopher Dresser in the Ipswich Notebook reveal more free flowing looped handles and also that these designs should/or could be reproduced in bronze the designs are annotated 'Make sugar basins of bronze'.
