Day 1 will show case eight collections featuring all disciplines of Arts of Africa, Oceania and the Americas, including Part III of the Zbyszek Plocki Collection, with further Ibeji figures and other Nigerian works. Melanesian items from Mary-Clare Adam, anthropologist and Honorary Consul of the Solomon Islands in Israel, collected in the 1970s whilst traveling in Papua New Guinea, including masks, jewellery, everyday objects and a wonderful Iatmul Mei mask (lot 95.) Along with Aboriginal, Melanesian and Polynesia items from Mary-Clare’s fathers’ collection, Dr Leonard Adam (1891 – 1960) featuring clubs, shields and an interesting selection of stone adze blades and knives.

The Richard Hook Collection of Native American items is a wonderful selection of the variety of works of the nomadic people of the Great Plains, from beaded moccasins, leggings, pipe bags, purses to a superb saddle bag. A private collection of Native American beadwork includes moccasins, bags, a rifle case and leggings.

A selection of Nigerian, Ivory Coast, Angola and the Democratic Republic of the Congo works from the collection of John Paul Raad show the great diversity of the differing tribes of West Africa, including an impressive Yoruba house post (lot 249.)

Thirty six lots from the William Ohly Collection, includes Maori, Papua New Guinea, Marquesas, Haida, Kuba and ancient Egyptian artefacts, many formally housed in the Abbey Museum in the grounds of his home and the Abbey Art Centre in New Barnet, London.

A fascinating selection of Nepalese and Tibetan items from the Alain Rouveure Collection includes robes worn by Shaman and artefacts used during rituals, along with drums, handles, phurbas and ghurras.

The day will conclude with a selection of Antiquities, including limestone reliefs, vessels, an Anubis figure, scarab amulets and bead necklaces.
