A Zulu knobkerrie
South Africa
with copper and steel wire bands,
71.5cm long,
and a Zulu brass button necklace, mounted, framed and glazed. (2)
Provenance
By repute both the necklace and knobkerrie once belonged to Mzumeni Mchunu, a Zulu headman, which were subsequently given to historian Ron Locke, Hillcrest, Natal in 1994 by a relative of Mchunu, whilst interviewing the clan for his book Blood on the Painted Mountain.
