Our September sale will be held over two days with an interesting selection over both days.

Day 1 starts with an Egyptian wood shabti dating to circa 1320 BC and also includes an Etruscan bronze hand mirror engraved with the Dioskouroi and two female figures. We then move to the Americas and Inuit, which includes a collection of Taino artefacts, mostly carved stone and a rare wooden stool, duho. A wonderful carved Inuit female figure showing facial and body tattoos. The Romy Rey Collection, Part III will take up the rest of the day with a selection of PreColumbian pieces in gold, pottery, wood and textiles. The same collection will also include African and Oceanic items.

Day 2 will include African items from various collections; masks, figures, over 30 lots of Yoruba Ibeji’s, headrests, textiles, stools and pottery. Items from the Dr. Laurence R. Goldman Collection span both Nigeria and Oceanic, in the form of Papua New Guinea shields, a woman’s canoe, an Orators stool and a variety of Indonesian hampatong figures. A vibrant feather currency from Santa Cruz Islands graces the front cover of the catalogue and a beautifully carved Maori paddle, hoe, makes up a good selection of Maori pieces.

We hope you find a piece or pieces of interest and look forward to seeing those that can make it to our Castle Gate Galleries to the view.
