Arts of Africa, Oceania and the Americas

Wednesday 21st September 2022. Starts at 10:00am

The sale includes works from the Romy Rey Collection. A collector with a wide interest, primarily in the Arts of Africa and the Americas. Figures and masks from differing African tribes, highlighting their distinct characteristics, power and charm. A wide ranging selection of Pre-Columbian pottery, stone and wood is a wonderful insight into the cultures of Mesoamerica, with pieces dating to 3000 years old and the delightful work of the Nazca potters of Peru. This is the first part of the collection, with more selections in future sales.

Another delightful collection is the Virginia Bond Korda textile Collection. This section of the collection will include traditional textiles from Africa, Indonesia, India, Thailand, Laos and Peru, formed from a desire for the study and dissemination of knowledge of traditional ethnographic textiles.

An interesting Moai figure from the Easter Islands, a Cook Islands stool and a Fiji bowai are three lots that stand out in Oceanic section, with many more awaiting your discovery.
