TWO CHINESE SNUFF BOTTLES

19TH/20TH CENTURY

One carved in cinnabar lacquer with a lady and boy beneath pine in a garden, with a beauty seated by a pavilion to the reverse, the base with a four character Qianlong mark in gilt, the other snuff bottle formed from white glass, enamelled to one side with a floral spray, the reverse with a poem by the Qianlong Emperor, with a mark reading Gu Yue Xuan to the base, 5cm and 6.5cm. (2)

Provenance: from an English private collection, West Sussex, acquired by the current owner during various tours of duty between 1968 and 1985.
