A SAFAVID GOMBROON WARE BOWL
17TH/18TH CENTURY
The well with a circular raised boss painted with black stars, the medallion surrounded by underglaze blue prongs and further black stars, with a pierced abstract design to the cavetto, the rim painted with clusters of four black dots, decorated in a white glaze which stops short of the straight foot, 18.9cm.
Provenance: from an English private collection, West Yorkshire, purchased from E & H Manners on 5th October 1992. A copy of the invoice is available.
