A CHINESE PARCEL-GILT COPPER ALLOY 'TAOTIE' INCENSE BURNER, GUI
HU WENMING MARK, 16TH/17TH CENTURY
The compressed globular body raised on a splayed foot, flanked by two mythical beast handles, the exterior with a wide band of taotie between bands of phoenix and butterflies and scrolling foliate tendrils, all reserved on a diaper ground, the base incised with a seal mark reading Yunjian Hu Wenming zhi, with a paper label for the Finer Collection 'CB 110', 610g, 16.9cm.
