A CHINESE ROCK CRYSTAL 'PHOENIX' GROUP
18TH CENTURY

Comprising a brush washer and waterpot, the waterpot formed as a hollowed peach, the brush washer worked as a tree trunk, with an elegant phoenix, peony and lingzhi issuing from branches and picked out in the pale green section of the stone, 12.7cm.

From the Portersfield Collection, London, purchased from Roger Keverne Ltd, 17th June 2008, Summer Exhibition, item 99.

For a similar but larger example, see the rock crystal 'phoenix' group sold in these rooms on 14th November 2023 from the Lawrence Jade collection.
