PROBABLY SONG DYNASTY

The compressed bulbous body rising from a slightly tapered foot to a wide neck flaring at the rim, covered all over with a greyish-green glaze suffused wth a network of crackle, 12.8cm.

Purchased in Japan c.2000.

Compare the related zhadou in The Ashmolean Museum, accession no. EA1956.1352, of a similar size dated to the Song Dynasty. See also the smaller example in The Cleveland Museum of Art, accession no. 1957.73.
