A large Chinese porcelain Dutch-decorated dish early 18th century

A large Chinese porcelain Dutch-decorated dish early 18th century, the lobed dish with original anhua decoration of floral scrolls, boldly enamelled in Holland with a central vase of flowers within eight petal-shaped panels of birds and flowering stems, the rim with a narrow border of diaper panels and flowers, 32cm.

Provenance: the Helen Espir Collection, no. 387. Purchased from Nicholas Pitcher, February 1995. A black sealing wax label for Duveen, Liverpool - James Henry Duveen was cousin to the infamous Joseph.

This dish directly copies a famille verte original, but with additions to the colour palette and generally a more crowded feel to the decoration.
