Two Chinese porcelain European-decorated teabowls and saucers 1st half 18th century, later-decorated perhaps in Holland, one with a formal strapwork design in red, black and gilt with puce foliate sprays around, the other with small flower sprays within shaped panels of red crosses, and a lobed hexafoil teapot stand, decorated in red and gilt with overlapping panels in the manner of the Queen's pattern, the rim with a stylized foliate design, 12.8cm max. (5)
Provenance: the Helen Espir Collection, no. 760, 766 and 872.
The decoration on the first teabowl and saucer is very much in the Baroque style seen at the Du Pacquier and Doccia factories.
