£200 - £300 £200

Two Chinese porcelain English-decorated fluted teabowls and saucers 18th century, and a slop bowl, later-enamelled with panels of flowers alternating with flower mon on a hatched red and gilt ground, the bowl with panels of figures and flowers in a similar design, together with a Worcester coffee cup decorated in the same pattern, 13.8cm max. (6)

Provenance: the Helen Espir Collection, nos. 847, 673, 845 and 680.

Known at Worcester as the Scarlet Japan pattern, this design is not in fact known on Japanese porcelain but appears to have been derived by English decorators and copied at several of the larger factories.
