Two Chinese porcelain bowls 1st half 18th century

£100 - £200

Two Chinese porcelain bowls 1st half 18th century, each with anhua decoration of flower scrolls, between narrow hatched borders in underglaze blue, one simply enamelled in China with three small chrysanthemum sprigs in red and gilt, the other London-decorated with three large peony sprays in a heavier version of the same palette, a crowsfoot border added to the interior, 15cm. (2)

Provenance: the Helen Espir Collection, nos. 780 and 762.

These two bowls provide an interesting before and after contrast as to how the items arrived in the decorating ateliers and how they left.
