A Chinese grey jade carving of a cat 19th century, its body curved, its paws tucked neatly beneath its body, a large dragonfly caught between its jaws, its wings and body delicately carved, 6.8cm.

Provenance: from the estate of Johanna Joan Austin, member of the Oriental Ceramic Society 1975-2013.

The dragonfly is representative of purity and celebration. The cat is a symbol of longevity.
