A rare Chinese blue and white square bowl six character Jiajing mark and of the period 1522-66, painted with figures in a rocky garden beneath pine, playing musical instruments and games, the interior with a rectangular panel containing two figures, paper collection label, 9.6cm across.

Provenance: from the collection of Brodie and Enid Lodge of Flore House, Northamptonshire, and thence by descent. Purchased from Bluett's on the 7th June 1961 for £95.
