A Chinese lacquered and gilt bronze figure of Shoulao Ming dynasty, sitting in a formal pose on the back of a deer, the hexagonal plinth with two leaf-shaped apertures, an inscription to the reverse which reads kai huang shi liu nian er yue shi wu, Wang Jia Yao da fu jing zao fo yi qu jia, which translates as 'made in the 16th year, kai huang, on the 15th February, by Yang Jia Yao' corresponding to 596 AD, 35.5cm.
