A Sawasa ware gilt metal tobacco box 17th/18th century, of oval form with a hinged cover, cast in relief to each side with a shaped panel containing flowering prunus and pine, pagodas and birds in flight, with three similar narrow panels to the sides, the interior gilt, a fitted leather box, 10cm. (2)

Provenance: brought to the UK c.1850, by repute.
