A rare Chinese red cinnabar lacquer fan-shaped box, cover and stand 18th century, the flattened top carved in relief with figures beside a pagoda in a rocky bamboo grove, two examining a scroll, another small group playing chess, all within borders of key fret and with floral cell designs to the sides, the stand with four reticulated feet, the interior lacquered black, 38.9cm.
