A Chinese handscroll painting in ink and colour on silk, title-slip reads Qian Xuan hua Zhao Jun chu sai tu, signed Qian Xuan with one illegible seal, 21cm x 214cm.

Provenance: from the collection of Mrs Miles (1880-1970) in Wales.

Wang Zhao Jun was known as one of the four beauties of ancient China, she was sent by Emperor Yuan to marry the Xiongnu leader in order to establish friendly and peaceful relations through marriage between the Han (206 BC - AD 220) and the Xiongnu.
