A CHINESE SGRAFFITO POTTERY BASIN
MING DYNASTY
The deep body decorated to the interior with a green glaze over a brown slip, with a band of the eight trigrams encircling two central fish creating a yin-yang symbol to the centre and panels containing floral sprays and scenes from folk tales and theatre plays to the cavetto, the broad rim with a geometric border, the exterior unglazed, 36.5cm.
Provenance: acquired in the Netherlands in the 1990s.
