A KOREAN BLUE AND WHITE PICKLE JAR, TANJI
CHOSON DYNASTY

The bulbous body raised on a short foot and with a slightly everted rim, the shoulder decorated with precious objects including stylised scrolls and endless knots, the neck with a band of ruyi-heads, 12.5cm.

See the Fitzwilliam Museum acc. no. C.442-1984 for a comparable jar decorated with peonies from the Gompertz Collection. These jars could be stacked up and came in three different sizes.
