*A large Chinese spinach-green jade boulder 18th/19th century

*A large Chinese spinach-green jade boulder 18th/19th century, carved deeply in relief with a boy riding on the back of an ox beneath pine, and another figure seated on a terrace, all within a rocky pagoda landscape, the reverse with further pine and rocks, the stone with celadon and dark brown inclusions, with a fitted wood stand inlaid with silver coloured wire, 18cm tall. (2) Provenance: formerly in the collection of Walter and Sonja Carenstein, USA. Cf. L Jiufang, The Collection of Jades in the Palace Museum Beijing, vol.6, p.179, col. pl.261 for a similar boulder in various shades of green jade.
