Brightly painted in underglaze cobalt blue with many figures engaged in daily life in an extensive rocky river landscape, one figure fishes from a sampan, others chat on rocky outcrops, the neck with bands of ruyi-heads, key fret and scrolls above a band of dots, the base with a paper label for A C Beeling Leeuwarden, 47.5cm.

A C Beeling & Zn was founded in 1886 by the son of Johannes Beeling, a master silversmith who had been trading since 1864.
