A CHINESE FAMILLE NOIRE 'DRAGON' ROULEAU VASE

The body painted with four panels of writhing five-clawed dragons above crashing waves, divided by a black enamelled ground with chrysanthemum flowerheads on leafy stems, with a band of small cartouches containing the four arts of the Chinese scholar, 55cm.
Provenance: from the collection of Henry Myles-Tarlton (d.1946), Chief Engineer for Bird & Co Mining in India between 1912 and 1932.
