A small Chinese jade carving of a recumbent billy goat 17th century, sitting with his head turned behind his back, with the hair finely defined either side of the spine, the stone ranging from celadon to black, the reticulated wood stand damaged, 6cm. (2) Cf. Chinese Jade Throughout the Ages, an exhibition organised by the Arts Council of Great Britain and the Oriental Ceramic Society, 1975, nos.259 and 262 for related carvings of recumbent rams.
