A Chinese black lacquer and mother of pearl inlaid box and cover 16th century, probably Ryukyu Islands, with an inner box and tray, the cartouche-shaped body elaborately decorated with three small figures on a pagoda balcony and nine further figures below with trees, steps and a pagoda top, the sides with complex flower diaper designs, some old restoration, 26.5cm.
