A rare Chinese famille rose box and cover first half 19th century, in the form of two ruyi-heads, richly decorated with bats, stylized flowers and foliage, the interior and base glazed in pale turquoise, the cover with a section broken and well repaired, 22.5cm. (2) Provenance: formerly in the collection of General de Vassoigne of the French Marines in China in the 1860s, and thence by descent.
