A rare Chinese blue and white incense burner six character Wanli mark and of the period 1573-1620, each side painted in bright cobalt blue with pairs of five-clawed dragons, contesting flaming pearls divided by fish handles and above breaking waves, the rim with a key-fret band, the slightly flared foot with a continuous flower and leaf border, some restoration to the handle, 22cm across.
Provenance: an English private collection, purchased from Sotheby's, March 1975.
