A rare Chinese doucai longevity dish six character Kangxi mark and of the period 1662-1722, painted with a central motif of a crane upon a peach, upon a shou character, within a wide formal border of scrolling ruyi-head emblems, shou roundels and peaches, the reverse with three groups of bamboo and lingzhi fungus growing from blue rocks, hair cracks, 21.2cm. Provenance: an English private collection. Cf. The World's Great Collections, Vol VII, Musée Guimet, no.86 for a similar example.
