£5,000 - £8,000

A rare Chinese pale lavender blue glazed jardinière the base with a six character Yongzheng seal mark, Qing dynasty, boldly potted with slightly flared sides, crisply moulded to each face with sprays of bamboo, prunus, orchid and other flowers issuing from rockwork, raised on a recessed rectangular section footrim, the underside with ten small stilt supports, 26.1cm. Provenance: purchased in London by the present owner in the 1960s. Cf. Pierre F. Schneeburger, The Baur Collection, Chinese Ceramics Volume III, no.A329 for a very similar Yongzheng example, for which this piece may have been paired as a replacement.
