A RARE CHINESE DOUCAI 'BUTTERFLIES AND FLOWERS' BOWL AND COVER
SIX-CHARACTER JIAQING MARKS AND OF THE PERIOD 1796-1820

Delicately painted in underglaze blue, gilt and polychrome enamels with butterflies fluttering amongst lotus flowers, prunus and peonies; with bands of petal-shaped panels encircling the foot and the top of the lid, each enclosing a different plant; the foliate bowl and the cover moulded with petals and swirls; a paper label for 'OCS 2006, THE WORLD IN COLOURS, NO.80', 11.4cm.
