A LARGE CHINESE BROWN GLAZED MARTABAN JAR

MING DYNASTY

The tapering ovoid body decorated in relief with dragons, cranes and other small birds, the shoulder with six dragon-head lug handles above a band of four bird roundels and a four character mark, decorated all over with an olive-brown glaze, 56cm.

Provenance: from the collection of David Ferguson Esq. Formerly in the collection of Professor D R Laurence MD, purchased from Jan van Beers. A copy of the original invoice is available.
