A PAIR OF CHINESE MODELS OF BUDDHIST LION DOGS

KANGXI 1662-1722

The male with its forepaw resting on a brocade ball, the female with a small puppy clambering to one side, each with a flared incense stick holder to its back and raised on a rectangular plinth, decorated with bright turquoise and aubergine glazes, 18.5cm. (2)

Provenance: a European private collection, acquired 1965-85.
