A CHINESE FAMILLE ROSE OVOID VASE

REPUBLIC PERIOD

Painted with two roundels containing ladies in fenced gardens, with blossoming trees and rockwork, with a moulded ground of bats encircling shou characters and ruyi-heads, six character Qianlong seal mark; and a bowl painted with bats divided by peach trees above waves, the base with a six character Jiaqing mark, 28cm. (2)

Provenance: from the collection of David Ferguson Esq. The vase formerly in the collection of Professor D R Laurence MD.
