A CHINESE BLUE SILK GAUZE SUMMER SKIRT FOR A ROBE

MID-19TH CENTURY

Worked in counted stitch (petit point) with thirteen roundels containing five-clawed dragons and flaming pearls of wisdom above pairs of larger dragons amongst bats, peaches and clouds, all above crashing waves and bordered by gold scrolling lotus borders, with a later-added cotton sleeve for display, 104cm long.

Provenance: purchased from Linda Wrigglesworth c.1980s.
