A LARGE CHINESE EIGHT PANEL BLACK AND GOLD LACQUER SCREEN

19TH CENTURY

Painted to one side with six oval cartouches containing mountainous pagoda landscapes, with figures in boats, pine and willow trees, encircled by a dense scrolling foliate ground, bordered with further rectangular panels containing figures engaged in domestic pursuits reserved on a cell diaper ground, all divided by a key fret band, the reverse with peony and finger citron emerging from rocks, with small birds and butterflies, 187cm x 432cm overall.
