A Chinese armorial teabowl and saucer c.1730, decorated with the arms of Lee quartering Astley, within borders of gilt, black and red, the cup with a black diaper ground, some damage to the teabowl, 11.5cm. (2) Provenance: the Clifford Henderson collection. Purchased at the Chinese Porcelain Company, New York in 1994. This service was made for the ancestors of Robert E. Lee, General of the Confederate Army during the American Civil War.
