A Chinese armorial plate c.1760

£600 - £1,000 £600

A Chinese armorial plate c.1760, painted with the arms of Macgregor, the border with famille rose flowers joined by stems of bamboo, 22.7cm. Provenance: the Clifford Henderson collection. The Clan Macgregor was outlawed and the name forbidden, following the Battle of Glenfruin in 1603. Until this changed in the late 18th century, the family went by the alternate name of Murray. Evan Macgregor (alias Murray) was aide de camp to Bonnie Prince Charlie during the Jacobite Rebellion.
