A good Chinese armorial cylindrical tankard c.1745, decorated with the Arms of Nassau quartering the Earl of Rochford impaling Young, 14.5cm high. Provenance: the Clifford Henderson collection. The J. J. Howard sale (1902), The Crisp sale (1923), the Marshall sale (1959). The Chester W Hauth Collection. This mug was made for the 4th Earl of Rochford, Secretary to George II and Ambassador at the Courts of Madrid and Versailles.
