A Chinese armorial octagonal small dish c.1770, decorated with the arms of William Henry, Duke of Gloucester and Edinburgh, the rim painted with tied flower garlands, small rim frits, 16.5cm. Provenance: the Clifford Henderson collection. Purchased from Heirloom and Howard in 1980. Exhibited: English Ceramics Circle, Armorials Exhibition 2008. Label relating to this to the reverse. This service was commission for the brother of King George III. Services for the Royal Family are rare in Chinese export porcelain.
